# Your First Character

> **Note:** This tutorial guides you through creating your first AI character using Quick Create, the fastest method available. You'll have a working character in under 5 minutes.

## Overview

In this tutorial, you'll:

1. Start the Quick Create wizard
2. Upload or generate an avatar image
3. Let AI generate character details
4. Review and customize the result
5. Save and test your character

## Prerequisites

* Signed into [Character Studio](https://studio.meganova.ai)
* (Optional) An image for your character's avatar

## Step 1: Open Quick Create

1. Click the **Create** button in the sidebar
2. Select **Quick Create** from the dropdown menu

The Quick Create wizard opens with two options:

* **Upload Image** — Use your own artwork
* **Generate Image** — Let AI create an avatar

## Step 2: Provide an Avatar

### Option A: Upload Your Image

1. Click **Upload Image**
2. Select an image from your device
3. The image will be processed and displayed

**Image requirements:**

* Maximum size: 1 MB (larger images are automatically compressed)
* Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF
* Recommended: Square aspect ratio (1:1)

### Option B: Generate an Image

1. Click **Generate Image**
2. Describe your character's appearance
3. Click **Generate** to create the avatar
4. Select your favorite from the results

**Example prompt:**

> A young woman with silver hair and blue eyes, wearing a black leather jacket, cyberpunk style, detailed portrait

## Step 3: Generate Character Details

Once you have an avatar:

1. Click **Generate Character**
2. Wait for AI to analyze the image
3. Watch as the system generates:
   * Name
   * Description
   * Personality traits
   * Scenario
   * Example dialogue
   * First message

The generation process shows progress for each step:

**Generation takes 30-60 seconds** depending on the complexity.

## Step 4: Review Generated Content

After generation completes, you'll see a preview of your character:

Review the generated content:

| Field             | Description                             |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------- |
| **Name**          | Character's name                        |
| **Tags**          | Categories for discovery                |
| **Description**   | Physical appearance and background      |
| **Personality**   | Character traits and behavior           |
| **Scenario**      | The setting/situation for conversations |
| **First Message** | How the character greets users          |

## Step 5: Continue to Editor

Click **Continue to Editor** to open the full Character Studio editor where you can:

* Fine-tune any generated content
* Add example dialogues
* Configure advanced settings
* Attach lorebooks

## Step 6: Save Your Character

1. Review all fields in the editor
2. Click **Save** in the top-right corner
3. Your character is now saved to your current workspace

## Step 7: Test Your Character

Test your character immediately:

1. Click **Chat** in the character card or header
2. Start a conversation
3. Evaluate the responses

**Tips for testing:**

* Try different conversation topics
* Test edge cases and unusual questions
* Check if personality stays consistent
